This week… when my bosses asked how my doctor’s appointment went, I could only laugh and say “… well, horrible, of course. They took my blood and I have to get an ultrasound done.”
This has been the story of my life for the past year. Everything I used to love has taken a backseat to all the doctors, blood tests, xrays, and lots of medication I now have to take.
I’ve always been a believer that if you’re a good person, good things will happen to you, but this year has done everything in its power to prove me wrong… so much so that I wrestle daily to not feel bitter and angry about it all.
… but after this last appointment and receiving this news, I had to laugh.
All that being said, I’m thankful every day for a wonderful guy in my life who for some reason, chooses to stick by me through all this ridiculousness. Also for my parents who have decidedly taken over my mountain of medical bills. I’m pretty sure without them, I’d be wandering the streets laughing maniacally at how cruel fate is.
So to Jay, my parents, and the small few who aggressively check up on me. Thank you. You guys may not know it, but you’re my lifesavers.
