About a Boy is one of the few perfect soundtracks from beginning to end.. Probably Badly Drawn Boy’s best work. Plus holds some sentimental value.
- My cousin gave this book to me as a parting gift back in ‘99 after I stayed the last weekend with her at university just outside London.
- Then I saw the movie in '01 when I was visiting London on a weekend during a Study Abroad program to Rome. I can still remember Ben arguing the concept of “no man is an island” after leaving the Odeon in Leicester Square … then losing him later in the Tube.
- Now every time I hear the soundtrack, I can’t help but be transported back to listening to it on a crappy cd player and portable speakers in our apartment in Rome.
