So a very weird thing happened to my boss last night in San Francisco after checking into Yelp…

After a meeting, he headed to the Chieftain last night for a drink. As a Yelper, he checked in via the app, and pushed the notification onto twitter. Not more than a minute or two later, there’s a call at the bar, asking for him.

A person called claiming to be someone from the corporate office of the Chieftain (which doesnt exist… btw, the bartender wondered if the caller was referring to the 4x4 room in the basement). He persisted in asking if my boss was drinking, and claimed he had been banned from the bar previously for disorderly behavior. He knew my bosses first and last name, I’m assuming from twitter.

I don’t even know what to make of this. Is this a new form of trolling people are doing? If it was one of his friends, no one has copped to it, and the call was from a google number.

Anyway, here’s a reminder to be careful what you post online about your whereabouts.
