R.U.R | Action Theatre Company | 05.10.09
I checked this out tonight. Missing the first couple minutes and reading nothing about it beforehand, it was admittedly pretty strange. I felt like I was watching a live action B-Movie.
Turns out the play is an adaptation of Karel Capek’s play, R.U.R, written in 1920. It’s said to been the very story that introduced the word Robot into the English language. It also introduced the idea of robot revolution, setting the stage for works like “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”, Blade Runner, Terminator, and Battlestar Galactica. If you’re a SciFi fan, I’d highly recommend you check it out. Thumbs Up.
Playing at the Action Theater until May 16.
