Comedy, Photography, and a 3rd generic interest

Blog

Last night I met Fred Greissing, a photographer for Jimmy Kimmel live, who’s been shooting portraits of the celebrities on set for about 6 years.

We talked for about 4 hours straight, where he shared stories of meeting Lady Gaga before she was a star and taking the last known photos of Brittany Murphy and Rodney Dangerfield… both of which died the day after he shot their portraits.

He stressed how important it is to respect the subject. Even after media outlets wanted to purchase Brittany’s photos for tens of thousands of dollars, he refused and only gave them to her family out of respect.

Fred then taught me how to use my new lens and tips on equipment in general. Then invited me to sit in on a show anytime and shoot some behind the scenes stuff when a comedian I was familiar with was a guest.
