Did anyone else's Southern California Edison bill double/triple?

Normally, my apartment’s (3 bedroom/2 bath) bill is about $50 between three people. January’s bill was $150. I wasn’t even home for 12 days. I used a space heater for an hour or two that month. My roommate copped to running the heater 4 or 5 times.

The only thing I came up with is SCE installed a smart meter which is supposed to give a more accurate reading and does away manual meter readings.

I still don’t think our bill is supposed to be equal to that of a house in the midwest.
